As the days grow shorter and the chill sets in, it’s easy to find yourself feeling a little… sluggish. The lack of sunlight, cold weather, and occasional seasonal sadness can make even the coziest homes feel more like a trap than a retreat! If you're stuck inside, craving a pick-me-up but unsure where to start, don’t worry; you're not alone. Winter and its gloominess can take its toll, but the good news is, there's no need to wait for the spring to recharge your spirits.
Instead, why not bring the retreat to you? Creating a soothing winter wellness retreat at home is the perfect way to combat the cold weather blues! Think cozy blankets, happy lamps, warm baths, and a little supplement TLC—simple at-home remedies that will leave you feeling recharged, refreshed, and ready to take on the season with a lighter heart!
Let's dive into how you can transform your space on your own!
Make Time For You
Schedule your at-home retreat into your calendar. Whether you want to take an entire day or just an hour to pamper yourself is up to you, but setting up the time is crucial. This way, you can’t get distracted or push off your self-care time! Consider working these days into your weekly routine to prioritize self-care! Here are some of my go-to items & routines to fight off any winter blues:
- The softest, coziest blanket I can find
- Developing a morning ritual (see our Collagen Latte recipe below)
- Fluffy robe
- Lighting (I like to set up everything from fairy lights to my sun lamp)
- Favorite candle
- Staying hydrated
- Favorite face products (Nightly serums to weekly face masks)
- Nail polish refresh
- Epsom shower steamers
While that is how I like to set the mood for myself, remember that the best thing about an at-home wellness retreat is that it is entirely customizable!
Besides external comforts, nourishing your body from the inside is vital, particularly in the winter months. Supplements can play a key role in this process. For instance, I include a Multivitamin and Ashwagandha in my daily routine! These supplements help me support my ability to stay calm and focused — two essential qualities for a truly restorative retreat experience. [3,4]
The Collagen Latte
Another way to ensure you get the proper nutrients during this time is to create wellness drinks for yourself.
Adding collagen to your morning coffee is a simple yet effective way to enhance your wellness routine. I have an all-time favorite recipe I always use that makes my morning routine a little more special! As a bonus, it can help give you a dose of skin-, hair-, and joint-supporting collagen peptides! [1,2]
Here’s how I make my every-morning collagen latte:
Step 1: Brew your preferred coffee. I use a Moka pot to make my espresso at home, but you do not need to use espresso to enjoy this drink; any form of coffee will do!
Step 2: While your coffee or espresso is brewing, grab your favorite mug or glass and froth one scoop of Pattern Wellness’s Collagen Peptides Powder + your milk of choice with a whisk or a handheld frother! If you don’t have a frother or mini whisk, use a blender for a few seconds.
Step 3: Once your mixture is blended evenly and your coffee is brewed, you can go ahead and stir them together. Pattern Wellness’s Collagen Peptide Powder comes in delicious flavors like Birthday Cake, which adds a touch of sweetness without needing extra sugar! You could even opt for unflavored—it’s all about your preference! I shoot for about a double shot of espresso or equal portions with regular coffee!
This simple change to your morning coffee is an easy, delicious way to start the day with a nourishing boost! It's a simple step with big benefits! [1,2]
